Reaffirming strong links between UK & Cyprus
The new Cyprus High Commissioner to the UK, Ambassador Andreas Kakouris, has reaffirmed strong links between the UK and Cyprus in a positive and enlightening speech at the UK-Cyprus Enterprise Council's Annual Goodwill Ambassadors Reception in London on Thursday 27 February.
He and his wife, Kareen, were introuduced by UKCEC Chairmam, Peter Droussiotis, and hosted by Stelio Stefanou, Chairman of the Stefanou Foundation and Vice Chairman of UKCEC.
As a UKCEC Goodwill Ambassador, Anna Averkiou, was among a diverse group of guests from the world of finance, business and the professions. The vote of thanks was given by Bambos Charalambous MP and HM Government was represented by Richard Lee-Smith, Team Leader, Cyprus & Greece Division at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
British Cypriot soprano Katerina Mina serenaded the audience with the traditional Cypriot song 'To Yiasemi' (Jasmine).
UKCEC was set up by British Cypriot entrepreneurs and professional people to act as a vehicle for the promotion of bilateral trade between the UK and Cyprus, the development of UK/Cyprus partnerships in a variety of fields and the encouragement of inward investment into the island.
